Scottish road trip (part 3)

And so to Edinburgh, a very grand city, seemingly quietly wealthy and prosperous. Perhaps appearances are deceptive but there is no shortage of up-market shops, cafes and hotels.

9am saw me at Edinburgh Castle, to meet the extremely pleasant and accommodating Regimental Secretary of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards.

Now bearing in mind the gates open at 9.30 for paying tourists, it was rather fun to beat the queues, not have to pay and have the castle to myself for a few minutes!

The pleasure was short-lived, however, as it was now off to my final port of call.....
