Old Wykehamist (Winchester College)

£85

Old Wykehamist is the name given to the alumni of Winchester College, one of the United Kingdom's most famous independent boarding schools.

Current pupils are known as Wykehamists in memory of the school's founder, William of Wykeham.

Winchester College was founded in 1382 and the first 70 poor scholars entered in 1394.

The school does not use Common Entrance like the vast majority of other senior boarding schools but has its own entrance examination.

Its motto is: 'Manners makyth man'.

Notable Old Wykhamists are too many to list in full but include: Matthew Arnold, Rupert D'Oyly Carte, George Mallory, Douglas Jardine, Kenneth Clark, Hugh Gaitskell, William Whitelaw, Peter Jay and Rishi Sunak.

The Old Wykehamist belt is designed on the tie and is in a vertical style of navy blue, red and brown stripes, in the same proportion.

All of our belts are hand beaded in Kenya by the Maasai, using an average of 6000 beads.

We use the highest quality leather to ensure our belts are extremely long lasting and durable.

This belt is 1.5 inches wide.

The old Wykehamist tie is not a tie at all. It’s a Manyatta belt.

DELIVERY:

We believe in being totally honest with our customers. Like a bespoke suit or pair of shoes, outstanding craftsmanship takes time. When the order is placed, the mamas in Kenya start beading your belt, utilising their cultural and ancestral skills. Once this is complete, the belt is sent to us in the UK. For this reason, please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery. Trust us - it is utterly worth the wait!
