Old Carthusians is the name given to the alumni of Charterhouse School, the distinguished independent boarding school in Surrey, UK.

Charterhouse was originally founded on the site of the old Carthusian monastery in Charterhouse Square, London.

It moved to its present site near Godalming in 1872 and expanded greatly over the next 100 years.

Charterhouse originally accepted only boys but girls were admitted into the 6th From in 1971 and in 2021, it will welcome girls into Year 9.

Notable alumni include a former Prime Minister, Lord Liverpool, Robert Baden-Powell,Sir William McAlpine, Peter de Savary, Hugh Trevor-Roper, Robert Graves, William Makepeace Thackeray, David and Jonathan Dimbleby, Max Hastings, William Rees-Mogg, Peter Gabriel and Augustus Courtald.

The Old Carthusian belt is designed on the tie and is in a vertical style of light pink, blue and red stripes, in the same proportion.

All of our belts are hand beaded in Kenya by the Maasai, using an average of 6000 beads.

We use the highest quality leather to ensure our belts are extremely long lasting and durable.

This belt is 1.5 inches wide.

The old Charterhouse School tie is not a tie at all. It’s a Manyatta belt.

DELIVERY:

We believe in being totally honest with our customers. Like a bespoke suit or pair of shoes, outstanding craftsmanship takes time. When the order is placed, the mamas in Kenya start beading your belt, utilising their cultural and ancestral skills. Once this is complete, the belt is sent to us in the UK. For this reason, please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery. Trust us - it is utterly worth the wait!
