Old Westminster (Westminster School)

£85

Westminster School is one of the UK's most distinguished and historic public schools, situated in the precincts of Westminster Abbey in London.

The earliest records of a school at Westminster date from 1370 and in 1540, Henry VIII personally ensured the school's survival by royal charter despite the dissolution of the monasteries.

Elizabeth I refounded the school in 1560 and this is the date the school is now generally regarded as being founded.

The first girl was admitted into the 6th Form in 1967 and in 2010, Westminster School celebrated its 450th anniversary.

The Westminster-Eton rowing match is considered the oldest rowing competition in the world.

Notable alumni include Sir Christopher Wren, Ben Jonson, John Dryden, Henry Purcell, Charles Wesley, AA Milne, Sir John Gielgud, Tony Benn, Sir Peter Ustinov, Nigel Lawson, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Helena Bonham Carter and Louis Theroux.

The Westminster School belt has been modelled on the Old Westminster tie of black and pink and is horizontal in style.

Our belts are hand beaded in Kenya by the Maasai, using an average of 6000 beads.

We use the highest quality leather to ensure they are extremely long lasting and durable.

This belt is 1.5 inches wide.

The old Westminster School tie is not a tie at all. It’s a Manyatta belt.

IMPORTANT  - HOW TO MEASURE A BELT:

DELIVERY:

We believe in being totally honest with our customers. Like a bespoke suit or pair of shoes, outstanding craftsmanship takes time. When the order is placed, the mamas in Kenya start beading your belt, utilising their cultural and ancestral skills. Once this is complete, the belt is sent to us in the UK. For this reason, please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery. Trust us - it is utterly worth the wait!
